by singerchick~ So the other night we were over at JuJu's house. (That's my mother-in-law, the kid's grandma and Mr. Singer's mom. In case you were wondering.) Uncle Social was telling the kids a story from when he and Mr. Singer were growing up. (Yeah, they're brothers. Sisters married brothers. In case you were wondering.) It involved fire, boys being boys and Mr. Social going to the hospital with a pretty bad facial burn. Moral of the story: If you play with fire you'll get burned.
The kids were very fascinated with this story and kept retelling it over and over to anyone who would listen. The versions changed a little each time and it was pretty funny. Well right in the middle of Little Man telling his version of the story for the third or fourth time he stops and asks were he was when this story took place. Big Man jumps in and informs his brother, as only big brothers can do, that he wasn't even born yet. Then he looks up at the sky (This means he's thinking about something. In case you were wondering.) and says, "I was in mama's belly."
Well of course I had to explain that he wasn't in my belly and we talked about him being in heaven with God before he was in my belly. I went on to say that daddy was just a kid and so was I and at that time we didn't even know each other. It was a pretty fun conversation to have with a five year old really. Then, thinking nothing of it, I said, "Just like you don't know the person that you're going to marry right now." Without a thought (which means he didn't look up at the sky) he says all shy and red faced, "I think I already do."
I was not expecting that!
Too cute!
