by babychick~ I'm sure we've all heard it, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. To be honest I've never really paid attention to this subject, but recently two people in my life have been affected by this disease. One of my grandmothers is in recovery from surgery and the other was just diagnosed. Now neither are life threatening but I have seen some people go through a hard battle with this disease.
Here are a few facts that you might not know:
-It is estimated that 200,000 women will be diagnosed with some form of breast cancer. And more than 40,000 will die from it.
-Men can get breast cancer also. While the numbers are much smaller it is still a possibility.
-There are many different types of breast cancer.
You can find out more here, but I encourage all women to check themselves often. If found early it can be very treatable.
There are also lots of easy ways to help find a cure. Check out the Susan G. Komen foundation here.
This is good info. I know three wonderful women, two of whom are in my family, that have survived breast cancer. They were all very fortunate that the cancer was caught in the early stages. Hope more people will be aware of this. . .
