by singerchick~ We are ending our third week of school and starting to settle into a routine. I like routines and schedules and even though it's sad to say goodbye to Summer I was ready for the change of pace. Although we are in a routine, there's still never a dull moment with two little boys in the mix.
This is our typical morning routine.
I wake up and as soon as Little Man hears my feet hit the floor he's up demanding cartoons and demanding his chocolate milk. Did I say demanding? That's an understatement. He screams about these two things until he gets them. We're working on his asking politely skills and he knows that he gets nothing without asking nicely with a please.
I wake Big Man up. "It's time to get up." I say while pulling off his covers and rubbing his back with some snuggles thrown in. He pulls the covers back over his head. I pull the covers off, turn on the light and say, "Get up and get dressed. Your clothes are on the bed." I walk out only to return a few minutes later and find him snuggled up in his covers asleep. I tell him that if he doesn't get up he will be left. This usually works.
Big Man is by far the hardest to get up.
Big Man likes to eat breakfast. I have to almost force Little Man to eat something.
They both get dressed pretty easily with little to no fuss.
They both hate having their hair done. They scream and act like tiny babies. When I say hair done, I mean wet it a little and give it a once over with a comb. They act like I'm spending 30 minutes styling it. This morning Little Man actually stood still and said nothing while I "did" his hair. When I was done of course I praised him with all the praise I could muster thinking that would help in the future. He was all proud of himself and said, "I'm always good when you do my hair, right Mama?" Um yeah, always, right.
So our mornings have been pretty good and I've actually gotten to work on time everyday since school started. This routine thing is working out, even with the car juggling and car seat juggling it takes to get three little ones to school and get them picked up.
