by photochick~ So this post is a little bit about Easter, but that's not the point so hang with me.
After everyone went home Easter afternoon we sat down with Punkin to watch The Velveteen Rabbit. It seemed an innocent enough decision. Mom and dad rest on the couch while Punkin enjoys a fun movie.
Ha! I've obviously didn't remember the story of The Velveteen Rabbit at ALL. Plus, this new version is really made well, so the themes are really well done, making them even more gut wrenching. I won't spoil it if you haven't seen it yet, but sufficed to say that while Punkin didn't get all of the analogies and seriousness of the movie, I was nearly in tears. On several ocassions.
My very favorite part of the movie is when the rabbit tells the little boy to imagine something, and he does, and what he imagined actually appears. The boy says, (and I paraphrase) "Rabbit, how did you know I could do that?" And rabbit responds, "If you've never tried, how did you know you couldn't?"
Isn't that an awesome thought?
If you haven't seen the new version, it really is worth the watch. Just bring the tissues.
I will love this. Love the book. Pass the kleenex please.

Mom bought it for Punkin for Easter at Wal-Mart I believe. I think it's available for rent though.
