by photochick~ I was cruising a few random blogs from my bloglines roll yesterday and ran across Lisa Bearson's blog about smoothies. It has several smoothie recipes that I'm thinking of trying out.
I've been eating a mini bagel with low fat cream cheese for breakfast of late, but all those carbs and no protein doesn't hold until lunch. Every day about 10:30 I start getting a little shaky. I'm entirely too lazy to get up early enough to cook something more substantial and I'm wondering would the smoothie have more lasting power? I mean, I'm teaching. There's not really time for a quick snack mid morning.
So, are you a smoothie fan? Have any good (healthy) recipes I could try?

Here's an excerpt from my blog last summer after my back surgery...
Homemade smoothies are a great way to get extra protein by adding protein powder. You can buy either milk & egg or soy powder at the grocery store in the health food aisle. The stuff tastes nasty if you just mix it into milk! So here’s my recipe: ½ cup frozen berries, ½ cup milk, ½ cup OJ, 2 scoops protein powder, one banana, and a squirt of honey. The banana helps to thicken the smoothie and the OJ and honey kill the taste of the protein powder.

Hmmm smoothies are great, I used to make them all the time, however, not so much due to all the carbs and sugar they have in the them. Need to find a good low carb recipe I guess. Anyway, I would just place a container of yogurt and some milk in my blender, then just add frozen fruit, usually, strawberry, kiwis and oranges, sometimes blueberries, or watermelon, or what have you, I always tried to use what they said was in them at Tropical Smoothie, mmmm smoothie goodness. I will definitely have to look for a good recipe now.

Smoothies are wonderful but I am too lazy to make my own when there is a smoothie shop two blocks from my office. I should try some of these recipies now that I am channeling my inner domestic goddess :)

Heather what does nuked in water mean? like microwaved? I am unsure, please explain!!!

Smoothies won't hold you unless you add protein. That is key. Planner, Nuked in water means cooked in the microwave per directions on the box.
