happy thanksgiving

by photochick~ I thought my little pregnancy reveal was very photochick"ish", but apparently it was a little confusing for some. It was bound to happen, with so many chicks pregnant, how can you keep count?

It was really my effort to tell all the chicks at one time, and it almost worked. All except Singerchick, who happened to be on a field trip with her chicklet.

So to clarify, we are expecting a new baby in the Photochick household! It's really early and we probably shouldn't have even told anyone yet, but all the chicks knew we were hoping and I really didn't feel up to lying for 8 weeks while we waited for that dreaded first trimester to end.  :-)

My first pregnancy (before Punkin) ended in miscarriage, so I guess I feel a little more at peace with the whole process. We've been down that heartbreaking road and I realize all too well how much it is out of our hands and in God's hands at this point. It is only left for us to pray and wait and see. If this is the baby God has for our family we'll have a new bundle of joy to be thankful for, due for arrival next Thanksgiving.

I see lots of early Christmas shopping in my future!

random thoughts for monday

by plannerchick ~ Not much to say today, so here you go!

Why is it that on the weekend, I have absolutely no trouble getting out of bed early. I wake up early all on my own, no alarm clock. But come Monday morning, I hit snooze 3 times, lay in bed for 5 minutes dawdling, and still am dragging when I get to work. I was doing laundry and cleaning my house at this time 2 days ago. This further convinces me that it's all in my head. Now..... how to convice myself that it's easy to get up on work days.

How in the world was I able to lay out (note: sunburn still happens when its cloudy) yesterday in 80 degree weather, only to be awakened this morning to find cold temperatures, which have dropped even cooler as the morning wears on. I guess scratch all of that, I just checked the weather and the high today is 78, but it is cool out there right now :-P

We drew names for the aforementioned (by social chick) secret pals last night. I am excited to begin buying for my pal!!! I absolutely love doing this, so much fun!!!!

In just 1 short day Mr. Planner and I will be dining at my favorite restaurant ever, The Cheesecake Factory, with one of my favorite people ever (and her hubby, who I love to!) I have been savoring this moment for a long time. There is nothing better to me then this restaurant. The last time I had it was August when social chick, social chicklet, socials grandmother, and I went with Grambe Hen to Orlando. August was a long time ago. I LOVE IT!!!!

That's all I can think of to say today, lol. Kind of boring, I know!!! Happy Monday!

easter cuties

by singerchick~ Our Easter weekend held all of the normal things.  Candy, hunting eggs, dressing up and going to church, and spending time with family.  But, what I will remember most about our Easter weekend is the message spoken to us by our almost 4 year old.

We were talking about what the Easter bunny brought and all of the fun things happening.  He looks up at me and says, "but Mama that's not what Easter's about."  "What's it about?", I asked.  "It's about Jesus and he died on the cross and rose again in three days and we hide eggs because it's fun."  "Yes!", I replied as I picked myself up off the floor.

Another incident that blessed the hubby and I tremendously....Big Man was having some skin trouble.  He has (or I should say had, in Jesus name) eczema pretty bad and it was burning.  He wanted to pray for it and I felt that I should explain a little more to him about the cross and the healing Jesus provided for us.  He listened intently and I didn't really know if he got it or not.  I mean it's a hard concept to grasp for a 4 year old.  Jesus was beaten on his back so that we could be healed.  So we pray and after wards he says to me, "Mama I'm all better.  My pain is on Jesus back."  Mr. Singer and I had to shed a tear after that. 

How truly awesome our Father God and our Saviour Jesus are.  Not only do we have salvation (which is awesome in itself), but our healing has already been provided for.  Already bought and paid for.  We just have to "pick it up".  I'm glad we have our little guy to remind us of this from time to time.

gag me with a spoon

by babychick~ Do you remember that saying? Well thats what I've felt like for the past couple of days. I'm not nauseated, my stomach is fine, but if I see or hear of something that is the tiniest bit gross I feel like I'm going to puke.

Take for instance, the other night I was watching Big Brother(my new favorite show) and they had to drink some kind of nasty concoctions for one of their games. I was fine at first and then they showed the signs of what was actually in the drink. Coffee, eggs, bacon, and then another drink was lettuce, sausage, and rootbeer. At the instant I saw what they were drinking I started gagging, I had to get up and walk away so I wouldn't get sick.

And then the other night I had nursery at church, one of the babies spit up on herself. Ok it wasn't a big mess but it took me about 5 minutes to get it cleaned up. My husband was like, you are about to have a baby and you can't even do this. Then one of the other babies had a nasty runny nose, I couldn't not get it wiped up without gagging for the life of me.

I know that its just pregnancy, but come on, I've never been one to get grossed out by anything. I know theres still more changes to come, but I am amazed at how many things can change in the first couple of months.

in desperate need

by socialchick~ Can you guess what I'm in desperate need of? I know a lot of you are thinking sleep, well I'm in need of that but this is not what the blog is about. I am in desperate need of a tan!!!!

I can not believe how white I am. I don't think that I have ever been this white in my life. It is sad when your 3 week old daughter is darker than you. Once again I am  sure that she is mine but I don't know where she got her looks. She is dark with dark hair and tiny features. I have none of the above. Mr. Social is dark and has dark hair but she looks nothing like him. I guess she is the Milk Mans! lol!

Anyways back to needing a tan. I am so ready to start the tanning bed or go to the Beach or hang out at a Pool. I need Sun people! I need warmth! My skin is crying out for some color. I have always said that dark chunk is better looking than white chunk. So I need my chunk (which jiggles like jello, just ask my friend Marla) to be dark. So I guess you get the point. I NEED A TAN!!!!!!!!! Here is a picture of my dark Tiny.

 

a little girl needs our prayers

by singer chick~ I feel compelled this morning to bring a need to the attention of you, our readers.  There is a 2 year old little girl who needs a miracle.  Her name is Elizabeth and she has been in and out of hospitals since birth dealing with multiple health issues.

I don't know this family and they don't know me, but I happened upon their blog site several months ago and have been praying for Elizabeth.  Yesterday I read this recent post.  I am believing with this family for a miracle in Elizabeth's body.  I believe that God has a great purpose for her life here on earth.

I know that there are those of you that believe in the healing power of our God and I'm asking you to stir up that mountian moving faith within you and join with me in prayer. 

Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.   Mathew 18:19-20

Father God, we come to you today on behalf of Elizabeth.  First of all I would like to thank you and give you praise for her life.  She seems to be such a fighter and Father I know that it is you who have made her that way.  Father, thank you for the joy that she has brought to her family and everyone around her. 

Now Father, we ask that you would completely heal her body.  Perform a miracle in her blood vessels and begin to break that clot up.  Doctors have said that there is no chance of that happening, but we believe your report and you said by the stripes on Jesus back we are healed.  So I'm proclaiming that Elizabeth is healed because the price has already been paid.  Jesus took the pain already for her and she is healed.  Elizabeth, we speak to your body and say that it will line up with the truth of the word of God.

I take authority over every evil thought and every negative report that says there is no hope.  There is hope!  There is healing!  Father thank you for Elizabeth's parents who have trusted in you daily and I ask that their faith would not begin to waver.  Father, continue to give them supernatural strength and peace that passes all understanding.

Father, thank you that Elizabeth's purpose here on earth is not complete.  You have called her for such a time as this and I thank you that she will be *everything* that you intend for her to be.  We give you all praise.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Thank you for your prayers.  Please continue to keep this little girl in your thoughts and every time you think of her thank God for the miracle he is performing in her body.

hobbies

by socialchick~ My husband and I always have the argument that I need a hobby. Well I agree. However he doesn't think that the things I want for a hobby are actually hobbies. We have done Secret Pals at church before and I love doing it. It is just who I am. (read worst wife post) He says that is not a hobby.  Well I beg to differ.

So here is the definition of the word hobby

hobby-an activity or interest pursued for pleasure or relaxation and not as a main occupation

So don't you think that Secret Pals can be a hobby? I do and as College and Career leader I will be starting it again so that I can have a hobby to keep my sanity. lol!

Anyway, I would like to know if you have a hobby and what it is. I feel that men can have 400 hobbies and women have trouble finding 1. What is up with that?  My husband has poker (with the boys), X Box, skeet shooting, golf, and any other sport that comes his way. I have nothing. I like to sew but can't find the time at this moment. So Secret Pals is my new hobby! lol!

by sassychick ~ Inspired by plannerchick's Bachelor review I would like to add... Does anyone watch Dancing with the Stars?  Sassy rooster and I love that show, I mean LOVE it.  I secretly dream of being able to spend my days learning to dance.  How awesome would that be?  It’s my dream.  And apparently that pays, well, nothing.  So I dream, on my way to work.

If you are watching this year you know that Marlee Matlin is one of the stars. This would not be worth reporting except SHE IS DEAF.  If you watch you know this is no amateur dance show.  These people, who start with no formal dance experience, throw down.  They are amazing.  So imagine watching someone on their SECOND WEEK of learning to dance, be phenomenal.  Then add the fact SHE CAN’T HEAR CRAP.  She is dancing by feeling which way her partner moves and counting the rest of the time.  Seriously people.

Although I have to admit, Kristi Yamaguchi is kicking her butt.  But I believe that is unfair.  The woman is a gold medal Olympic athlete.  Unfair advantage.  She should be disqualified.  I would also like to point out it is extremely hard for the judges to be mean when they’re criticizing someone who can’t hear them.  It’s like picking on a little kid.  You can’t make fun of the deaf girl.  It’s just wrong.

In other news, we continue to let Paris Hilton travel abroad and represent our country with insightful comments like this –

"I LOVE Africa in general, South Africa and West Africa. They are both great countries," she said, according to various reports.  Paris almost got it right. While South Africa is a country, West Africa is not.

I could go on, but we don’t have enough room.  Even on an endless Internet page.  And really, the above just sums it up.  QUIT LETTING HER TALK.   

This is exactly like when the media comes to our hometown, which will remain NAMELESS, yeah, it actually will this time, and they find the most inarticulate, incoherent, crazy person to put on tv to comment on events.  This affects US ALL.  There should be a committee that approves spokesmen such as this.  And if we have to live in that city, we should get a vote.

mystery solved, well most of it

by sassychick ~ Let me share how my day ended.  I came home, walked in the house and looked down at my blackberry.  I had received an email.  I called work (which as many of you know is a law enforcement agency, it’s important to know this, you’ll see why shortly) to ask them a question regarding the email.  While I was awaiting my answer I walked into the kitchen, where I proceeded to go sliding, in 3 ½ inch heels over the entire length of the kitchen, just in time to fall down causing my two young children to scream, which lead to my co-worker on the other end of the line asking me if she needed to send emergency services.  Not even making this up.

So I gathered myself.  Told her to call off the ambulance and started my own investigation.  There was a clear, INSANELY greasy substance over the ENTIRE floor.  I look over to my counter and all the leftover coffee from that morning has spilled out onto the counter.  Related?  Not so much.  Coffee is not greasy.  Investigation continues.  Co-workers asks if now she should send an officer because there could be an intruder who has decided to kill me by throwing something on the floor which will make me slip and fall.  He came up with this plan while having a cup of coffee, which he ended up spilling all over the counter.  Not a great plan.

Then it occurs to me.  Before I came into the kitchen my oldest son said, “Mom, I spilled some tea, but I cleaned it up.”  Then all the pieces came together and like Columbo I spelled out exactly what happened in dramatic fashion to my co-worker who is pretty sure I’m insane.  My oldest son ACTUALLY knocked over my plastic cup of oil, which he THOUGHT was tea.  While he thought he was cleaning it up, he was actually just spreading the oil over the entire floor in a thin layer so it would invisible, causing me to fall, mystery solved, roll credits.  There is no explanation for the coffee.  And that is why I don’t have my own show.

Two hours later my youngest son spills a cup of milk.  He looks and says, “Dad, I accidentally spilled my milk.”  To which sassy rooster responds, “Well clean it up, on purpose.”

Is it Friday?
