random thoughts for the week

by plannerchick ~ nothing eventful this week. i just thought i should blog again before the week is out. so here are my random thoughts for the week. even they aren't very amusing this week.

who knew i had so much junk stored away in my house. i have been preparing for a yard sale this weekend. last night i pulled out a drawer to clean it out. under it i found a toboggen that i lost 2 years ago, a missing mitten, and a purple sock....maybe i should clean more often.

i cannot seem to get enough dr. pepper lately. and i normally do not drink a lot of soda. i have been drinking so much lately that i wake up literally feeling like i have been in the desert for a week. i pee like twice a day, i thinks its time to get some water in the system.

i am in desperate need of a new brand of jeans. i have been an express girl for years now, but it seems to me they have changed the way they make jeans. i feel like its the impossible dream to find a jean that i like that fits my hips, and does not fall off of my waist. i am taking all suggestions.

mr. singer was at my house with my husband when i came home for lunch the other day. he informed me that my christmas tree needed something more. he suggested white and gold tinsel. umm, not so much. singer chick - good luck with that.

i am extremely excited (yes i said it again) i get to keep social chicklet tonight, we are going to bond! we are going to watch mr. planner coach, this will be the teams first home game, should be fun!! i am also excited for the game!!

i now have added a red and chrome paper towel holder and soap dispenser to my kitchen. i bought some beautiful black and white mugs, but finding a coffee cup tree seems hopeless.

shameless plug - i am getting out of the mary kay biz, and need to sell, sell, sell. i have made up little gift bags, they range in price from $25-30. great for little christmas presents, and stocking stuffers!!!

exciting news

by Singer Chick~ Well, it's been a crazy couple of weeks for me and I haven't blogged in forever.  However, I am back...back with an announcement.  Something I am very excited about and want all of you out there in blogville to know about.

Before you get all worked up...NO, I'M NOT HAVING ANOTHER BABY!  But, it's almost as good as a tiny baby.

We're having an awesome concert at church this weekend with Jessie Goodman.  Jessie is an anointed praise and worship leader who is passionate about worshiping God and passionate about sharing truth with a hungry generation.  Everyone is invited and it's free.  You can listen to some of Jessie's music here.  If you have questions, don't hesitate to comment.  I hope you can make it.  It's gonna be good!;-)

by social chick~ just a small update, daddy is on his way home. he will be home in 1 hour! it is about time!

his plane left Miami at 7:30 our time and he just called and said that he had landed. once again thanks to all of you for your comments and prayers.

holiday wrapup

by sassychick ~ We really don’t get how hard cooking is, you know for an entire family, until our elders pass the holiday meal baton.  Well I got the baton this thanksgiving.  Praise the Lord it was only a practice run, they actually cooked some side dishes, but I’m not sure I gave my grandmother enough credit.  I just sorta showed up on Thanksgiving and Christmas, ate until I was sick and then went home and slept it off.  I get it now.

Speaking of eating until I’m sick, that’s my thanksgiving memory.  When you’ve done Atkins for a yearish and then you LOSE YOUR EVERLOVIN MIND and eat everything is sight, you get SICK.  Who knew?  Well I did and I thought I didn’t care.  Turns out, I did care and I wish I wouldn’t have done it, but isn’t that the same ‘ole song and dance.  Someone should do a study on why people knowingly eat food that will make them miserable.  Then make a pill that’ll stop people from doing it.  I’d pay anything for that pill.

The thought of how sick I was, ahhhh, I can’t even tell you.  Oh well, lesson learned, yeah right, until the next time I do it.  Seriously get right on that pill people.

My kids had a great thanksgiving.  They ate normally, played a lot and had all the daddy/papa football time they wanted.  That equals a perfect Thanksgiving for them.  We got mildly concerned that our youngest was too skinny and maybe not eating enough.  I’m telling you, that is a hard one.  Not eating enough is so far from my world that it is almost another language.  It is really hard to be concerned about someone, unless it’s your small child, that doesn’t put enough food in their mouth.  Who does that?  I wish I had that problem, I wish just once someone would say, you know, you really need to eat more, have a milkshake, how about some french fries.  We really need you to gain weight.  I want that problem for once.

I think he’s ok, he finished off two eggs with cheese, two waffles, four pieces of bacon and two sausage patties this morning, BEFORE asking for more eggs to eat with his last piece of sausage.  He then broke into tears saying, “How am I going to eat my sausage?  I don’t have anymore eggs!”  I take the blame for this one.  Like when my kids take the bun off their hamburger, he thinks you wash sausage down with eggs, I’ve screwed them up a little bit.  I apologize to all the tree hugging, vegetarian mothers out there. 

Got to work yesterday just in time to go home sick.  I blame it directly on the 12,000 calorie cake/pie fest I had on Thursday.  I wasn’t sick to my stomach, just a really, really bad cold.  I almost never get sick when I’m on Atkins.  I think my immune system works better without sugar.  Or perhaps, it works better because when I eat sugar I become a professional competitive eater.  That could be the problem.

nine years old

by babychick~ so Thanksgiving has come and passed and now its time to get ready for Christmas.  black friday was fun, energy draining, but fun. i went with planner chick and our mother-in-law and we shopped till we dropped. actually i think me and planner chick dropped before our m-i-l. i got lots of good stuff for chicklet and i got a couple other people knocked off my list. i didn't get all of my shopping done like i had hoped but i still have time. 

tomorrow is little chicklets 9th birthday. i can't believe she is that old already. she is my step-daughter, as i've mentioned before, and i met her when she was 6. she is maturing so fast, from that little girl that never met a stranger to a young lady who is so smart she amazes me with what she knows.  we aren't going to do a big party this year because of how our time with her falls, we are just going to take her and a couple of her friends to a movie and then have a family thing.

we got her a few gifts but the one she really wants is one that she has to work for. she loves animals, any kind of animal, but me and her both agree that we would love to have a little dog in the house. mr. babychick says no. so she has been thinking of other animals she would like to have and she came up with a bird. this is one we can all agree on because it doesn't make that big of a mess and it stays in one confined area. well we told her that she had to make all a's on her next report card and she would get one. she's very smart, and i have a feeling that she can make that happen. we will see but right now it's happy birthday little chicklet!

finally

by social chick~ well it has been three weeks today and my dad is finally coming home from Peru. i'm pretty sure the entire family is excited about it.

so do you think that we have all missed him just a little. my mom said that she couldn't sleep last night because she was so excited! i'm sure the leadership of the church is glad to see him come home. we have all taken a day and fasted for him. my husband decided to take every Saturday, so you know what that meant for me, i haven't gotten to go out and eat on a Saturday night in a long time. sounds selfish now that i read it. lol! some of you may be thinking how did i fast, well i fasted from T.V. for one day.  we all pitched in and did our part. anyways to all of you who fasted and prayed, THANK YOU! my family appreciates it more than you will ever know.

i'm not sure if my dad took pictures, but if so i will post them later and hopefully be able to tell you some great stories.

thanksgiving mishap

by plannerchick ~ how was everyones thanksgiving? mine was great, the time off was wonderful, and much needed! we had three different thanksgiving's, and they all were very enjoyable, except for the pause of embarrasment i caused myself on sunday.

my husbands family was all at our house to eat on sunday night. we had just prayed for the food and everyone was getting thier plates of food in the kitchen. i fixed my chicklet his drink and took it into him in the dining room. i walked back into the kitchen and got behind mr. planner in line for food. i reach out and rub his bottom a few times, something i do often as a sign of affection.....i feel jeans under my hand, my husband does not have jeans on. i look up into the face of my husbands brother(mr. baby chick) (he is a twin, so that lessens the blow, a tiny bit).

i am sure that my face immediatley turned beet red, i went immediately and buried it in my husbands shoulder. everyone is laughing that is in the immediate vicinity. my brother in law said he didn't know what was going on. he felt someones hand on his behind and looked up and saw his wife in front of him, so he figured it was his mom and that she had missed his back, badly. but after 3 or 4 rubs, he realized it wasn't his mom.

i have almost grabbed his behind in the past, but always caught myself. lets just hope it doesn't happen again! baby chick, your day is coming.........

by photochick~ I feel like I'm barely holding up my "photochick" title these days. Well, at least on the chicks blog. I assure you I'm keeping it up in the real life. Much too much these days.

So here goes a Thanksgiving review in photos. I don't know how to put text between the photos, so here's the lowdown before the photos start:

- Evidence that I had a southern Thanksgiving. Can you say five pounds on the hips please?

- The family doing what they do. Eat. Then hang out outdoors eating oysters and shooting the breeze. Classic Haddock holiday.

- My wonderful grandmother who celebrated her 85th birthday after our meal. And my favorite shot of her holding my punking with no less than his own camera. He seriously just picked it up and started trying to take photos. I have no idea where he's seen that before??

- The most beautiful tree I've ever seen. My aunt told me about the tree which is located down her drive so we had to go check it out. Seriously beautiful.

my tat

by sassychick ~ I always wanted to blog about my tattoo.  I guess this is a pretty good time to throw it out there, since I’ve posted a picture of it all over myspace, typepad…you know, everywhere…

I laugh because that tattoo was not a young, stupid mistake, which is what people immediately think when they first see it.  You have to know me.  I don’t strike someone as a tattoo kind of gal.

Nope, this was a well calculated, thoroughly planned out, 28th year birthday present to myself.  Topped off with my hubby, plannerchick and her hubby there for moral support and laughs, I mean my crack was hanging out for a good hour and my tattoo was done by, well let’s just say a character…Moving on…

My history is, well pretty bland.  I’m not a rebellious person.  I’ve never been pulled over by a police officer, I asked permission when I skipped school, I was just, well, good.  Which doesn’t make others with more of a story – bad.  Honestly, I have brief moments where I’m a little jealous I have no wild to good “story”.  No pulling myself up by the bootstraps, get my act together, crazy story.  Those moments are brief.  Trust me.

So the tattoo.  I have always wanted one.  I have always wanted to feel a little bad.  A little dangerous, because of course, I’m not.  Not even close.  I can’t even see dangerous from where I’m at.  Therefore, the need to shake it up a bit.  Not too much, just a tad.  And how else can a wife, kid’s church leader, mother of two be a little dangerous?  There aren’t many options, beside waxing, shout out plannerchick.

You know what.  It worked.  There is nothing like having the tattoo right there under the surface.  People would never know unless I told them and by the way I look most would never guess, which is what makes it great.  There was no lack of naysayers with all the reasons to not get the tattoo, but when all was said and done, I totally love it, I’ve never regretted it, not for one second.  The only problem is stopping myself from getting another. 

My mom is supportive which is surprising if you know her.  After the gasp when people find out about the tattoo, immediately the next question is, “Does your mom know?  What did she say?” 

Isn’t that ridiculous.  I’m 28.  Married for 10 years.  2 kids later, I’m still scared of my mom.  She was actually more worried about me contracting hepatitis.  I think she believes the only places they do tattoos are in smoky, dirty, drunk men filled back rooms.  Truth is, the place I got it done was cleaner that my doctor’s office.  Imagine that.

A lot of times I hear, what will you say to your boys.  Well that is simple.  "When you're 28 you can take your own money and go get any tattoo you want."  I think that's fair.  I'm hoping they'll be as scared of me as I am of my mom.

My favorite is the line, when your 70 years old how is that tattoo going to look?  Well, lets all be honest.  How is anything going to look at 70?  Do you really think someone will say, wow, she is hot, if it weren’t for that wrinkled tattoo I would totally date her…

useless things we learned in school

by sassychick ~ You know what I was just thinking about.  That metal box we had to put our legs in and then stretch our hands out over our toes, as far as we could, to measure how flexible we were during elementary school P.E. 

Is that really scientific?  Because I'm pretty sure that test did not foretell one thing about my future success.  Don't even get me started about trigonometry....which of you has ever used that in life?  Shut up singer chick....
