by photochick~ So this is apparently help me pick punkin's Christmas presents week here in chickville. While I had it on the brain I thought I might as well put it out there. Who better to ask than other moms to toddlers?
The other toy we have really been talking about getting him is a wooden train set and table. We wanted to get him one last year, but he was only 2 and they apparently don't make train sets for the under 3 crowd. He ended up with a batter powered GeoTrax set. He played with it for hours and hours and hours.
So, I'm torn. On one hand we still think he would really like it, but then again it's a lot of money. I do like that it is kid powered and engineered instead of pushing a lever and watching it go round and round. I'd really like to find a used one in great shape. A friend had one for sale last year, but we didn't have room for it at the time and had to pass on it.
Anyone in the market to get rid of a wooden train set and table? If not, anyone have personal experience with how much yours was actually used?
Thanks! (I DON'T LIKE TO WASTE MONEY!!) :-)
And P.S. . . . we're thinking of EITHER the train set or VSmile system. Definately not both!

When i was a youngin i took a thread spool.I took a knife and made notches in it for traction. My power was a rubber band and two sticks.Yesssss we had rubber bands back then.Watch your pennys and Chadmeister can buy a new sand wedge.Thats all i have to say about that. SFP

We never had a Thomas train set but they sure are cute. Let me know which you get. I also need an idea for pumpkin.

I have a 3 year old boy, and we are currently in the market for Thomas the Train toys. What a lot of people don't know is that the Imaginarium train table that they sell at Toys-R-Us will also fit the wooden Thomas the Train toys (also comes w/ track), and is less than half as much. If you purchase it on Black Friday, you can also get more for your money. I have been watching these toys for a while to see if they would be worth the investment. We opted to go with the Take-Along Thomas the Train which is the die-cast trains. They are less costly, but my son still loves them. Not to mention I wouldn't cry if he lost a $6 train vs. a $20.

I think the train is a good way to go. I agree with your post about your boy always begging to play video games and that becoming a replacement for kid-play and imagination

We bought the Imaginarium last year on black friday at ToysRus and it came with a bonus pack with track and train cars. It is by far the best toy we have ever bought. He runs his cars on it most of the time, but is really getting into building the tracks by himself now. It has been great for family time too. We love to sit around it and play with him. On his list this year I have more imaginarium train cars.
